MEMBERSHIP POLICIES

 

Every individual member over the age of 12 must show their valid YMCA membership card to enter the YMCA facility. If a member has forgotten their card, they must show a valid photo I.D. to be manually checked-in. 

Guests are considered to be anyone who is not listed on an active YMCA membership. 

Guest Pass: 

  • Guests must be accompanied by an active YMCA member, 18 years or older, while in the facility.

    • Must be 18+ years old. 

    • Families with children welcome. 

    • YMCA member and parent/guardian must remain in the facility with anyone under the age of 18. 

    • Every guest must: 

      • Show photo I.D. 

      • All guests must have a signed liability waiver on file prior to entry. 

      • Take a photo for identification purposes. If the guest is under the age of 18, their parent or guardian must sign the liability waiver prior to entry - parent or guardian is defined as person legally responsible for the minor. 

  • Guests watching youth programs or aquatic lessons in the facility may not enter unless they are accompanied by an active member. 

  • Members must meet their guests at the Membership Desk and show their membership card to allow their guest access to the facility. 

  • Guests cannot check themselves in at the Membership Desk. 

  • For your safety and the safety of all members, no one will be allowed access without adhering to the above. 

  • Active members can only bring one guest or family at a time per day. 

  • Guests are allowed 3 visits per calendar year. 

 

  • Any membership changes, including billing and member information must be done in writing at the Membership desk or online HERE

  • Any membership changes including draft date, billing changes, termination, and member information changes must be submitted on or before the 15th of each month to take effect on the 1st of the following month. Any changes that increase the monthly dues will require a pro-rated fee to be collected at the time of the change. Please note that the name you will see on your billing statement is “Young Men's Christian Association of Southeast Ventura County”.  

  • Any changes to a membership account could result in a change of membership type and rate. 

  • Members added to a membership account must show photo I.D. upon their first visit to the facility. Minors under the age of 18 do not require photo I.D. but parent or guardian must be present. 

  • Any member added to a membership account will also need to do the following at their first visit: 

    • Take photo 

    • Sign the facility liability waiver 

      • Parent/guardian of minors under the age of 18 will sign on the minor's behalf. 

      • Minors between the ages of 12 - 16 will need to take a a teen orientation before key tag is issued.  

 

  • Drafts can be placed on hold one time for a maximum of three consecutive months per calendar year. 

  • Submit on or before the 15th of each month to take effect on the 1st of the following month. Submit at the membership desk or onlineHERE

  • The membership will be on hold for the months requested and use of the facility is prohibited for all members on the account during that time. 

  • Holds start on the 1st of the month. 

  • Regular membership dues will automatically resume drafting after the hold date expires. 

  • Memberships cannot be cancelled while on hold. 

  • Pre-paid memberships are not eligible to be placed on hold. 

  • To qualify for membership pricing or priority benefits, your account must be active at the time of sign-up or purchase. 

 

  • You may cancel your membership, which must be submitted on or before the 15th of each month to take effect on the 1st of the following month. Submit at the membership desk or onlineHERE

    • If your request comes in after the 15th of the month, your membership will draft from your account one final time before the cancellation occurs. During this time, you will have access to the facility. Memberships are pre-paid monthly and partial month refunds will not be issued. 

  • Memberships must be active in order to cancel (they cannot be on hold).

  • Paid-in-full memberships cannot be refunded, placed on hold or terminated prior to expiration date. 

  • Membership dues will be drafted on the 1st of the month. 

  • Membership dues are required to be paid monthly with either a credit card or EFT on file. 

  • Returned payments can be made in person and are also subject to being re-drafted. 

    • A $25 service fee will also be applied. 

  • It is the member's responsibility to notify the Y of any changes in address and/or billing information used for monthly dues, including credit card expiration. 

  • Membership dues are subject to change with thirty (30) days written notice. 

  • Membership fees are non-transferable. 

  • Billing disputes and discrepancies must be made within 90 days of their first appearance on member's financial statements. 

    • After 90 days, the right to dispute such discrepancies is waived. 

 

By participating in the YMCA Nationwide Membership Program, members agree to release the National Council of Young Men’s Christian Associations of the United States of America and its independent and autonomous member associations in the United States and Puerto Rico, from claims of negligence for bodily injury or death in connection with the use of YMCA facilities, and from any liability for other claims, including loss of property, to the fullest extent of the law. 

  • All Nationwide members entering the facility must have an active YMCA membership and be checked in through the Nationwide system. If they do not appear in the Nationwide database, they must call their home Y to correct the issue. It is not the SEV YMCA staff's responsibility to call. 

  • Program-only participants (including Renew Active, Silver & Fit or other like programs) are not eligible.

  • Nationwide members must present a government issued I.D. 

  • Nationwide members can scan in with their home Y key tag. 

  • Nationwide members may visit other participating Ys as often as they like, as long as they use their home Ys, on average, at least fifty-one percent (51%) of the time.   

  • Nationwide members are not allowed access to Kids' Zone. 

  • Nationwide member access: 

    • Group exercise classes can be attended if space permits. 

  • Youth enrichment classes: 

    • Cannot attend session-based classes. 

    • Drop-in classes can be attended if space permits. 

    • Parent/guardian must be present at all times. 

    • Access to pools if space permits. 

  • Nationwide members are allowed guest passes and must follow our guest policy. 

  • All Nationwide YMCA members must have a signed liability waiver on file prior to entry. If the guest is under 18, a parent or guardian must sign the liability waiver before entry. 

  • Parent/guardian must remain onsite during the visit. 

In exchange for good and valuable consideration, the adequacy of which is hereby acknowledged, I hereby give the YMCA of Southeast Ventura County, its volunteers, employees, and any other person or entity acting with its permission the right to take, copyright, use, and publish and photographs or videos of me and/or my children for the purpose of any YMCA advertising, promotion, or other purpose consistent with the YMCA mission. I agree that any such photograph or video is the property of the YMCA of Southeast Ventura County, and I hereby waive all rights thereto. I further waive any right to inspect or approve any printed or electronic material what may be used in conjunction with photographs or video, or to approve the use to which the photographs or video may be applied. 

The YMCA of Southeast Ventura County does not carry health or accident insurance on its members or participants. All expenses incurred in the treatment of illness, injuries, or accidents will be the responsibility of the participant and his or her parents or guardians. 

  • Members and guests may use their choice of a family locker room, private changing space or locker room corresponding to their self-identified gender. 

  • No cell phone use, video chat or photos allowed while within the locker room area. 

  • Children ages 12 and under must have adult supervision in locker rooms. 

  • Lockers are available for daily use only. 

CODE OF CONDUCT


 

The YMCA of Southeast Ventura County is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all members and guests. To promote safety and comfort for all, individuals are asked to act appropriately at all times when in our facility or participating in our programs.  
 
We expect persons using the Y to act maturely, to behave responsibly, and to respect the rights and dignity of others. Our members’ Code of Conduct outlines prohibited behaviors, but it is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of behaviors considered inappropriate in our facilities or programs. 

  • Using or possessing alcohol or illegal drugs and/or chemicals on Y property, in Y vehicles or Y-sponsored programs 

  • Smoking on Y property - the Y and its property is a smoke free environment 

  • Carrying or concealing a firearm or weapon on Y property 

  • Harassment or intimidation by words, gestures, body language, or any type of unwelcome behavior 

  • Physical contact with another person in an angry, abusive, or threatening way 

  • Verbally abusive behavior, including angry or vulgar language, swearing, name-calling, or shouting 

  • Sexually explicit conversation or behavior, any sexual contact with another person 

  • Inappropriate or unsafe attire 

  • Theft or behavior that results in the destruction or loss of property 

  • Transferring membership cards 

  • Loitering within or on Y property 

 

In addition, the Y reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, has ever been convicted of any offense relation to the use, sale, possession, or transportation of narcotics or habit forming and/or dangerous drugs, or is presently or habitually under the influence of dangerous drugs or chemicals, narcotics, or intoxication beverages. 
Members and guests are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal comfort and safety by asking any person who threatens their comfort to refrain from such behavior. Anyone who feels uncomfortable in confronting a person directly should report the behavior to a staff person on duty. In order to be able to carry out these policies, we ask that members and guests identify themselves when asked. 
The Y will investigate reported incidents. Suspension or termination of Y membership privileges may result from a determination by the Y if in its discretion a violation of the Y member’s Code of Conduct has occurred. 

The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation and remove visitation access.  

OTHER IMPORTANT POLICIES

 

RECENT POLICY UPDATES:

  • Southeast Ventura County YMCA will follow guidelines/mandates issued by state and local governments. 
  • Inclement Weather: Outdoor areas and outdoor classes are subject to closure and cancellation due to rain or wind. Indoor facilities will remain open.
  • Lighting or Thunder: If lightning or thunder is observed, the Aquatics Department must be notified immediately. Pools must be cleared and closed until lightning/thunder has subsided. The Aquatics Department follows the recommendations set forth by the National Lightning Safety Institute of waiting 30 minutes after the last lightning sighting or sound of thunder before resuming activities in the pool.

POLICIES:

  • Members should report any injury sustained in the facility to a YMCA staff person immediately when it occurs.
  • To assure safety and quality, specific rules and regulations are posted in program areas. Please abide by posted rules.
  • Lockers are available for daily use only.
  • Food, gum, and drinks other than water are allowed inside the lobby only. Water is permitted throughout the facility in unbreakable containers.
  • Found items are held in our lost and found for a maximum of 14 days. We encourage you to leave your valuables at home, after which they will be donated to a local charity.
  • The Y reserves the right to cancel, combine, or modify a program due to insufficient enrollment.
  • Make-up classes are not available for non-attendance. No credits or refunds will be given.

AGE GUIDELINES:

 

  • Members under 12 are not permitted in the fitness centers.
  • Members under 12 are not permitted in the Pool or Gymnasium area without parent or guardian.
  • Members under 12 must have adult supervision in the locker rooms at all times.

PROGRAM GUIDELINES:

  • Parents or guardians must remain on-site while children under the age of 12 are participating in any Y programs.
