Our sports programs develop more than skills—they develop character. We offer a variety of programs for youth and adults, including recreation and league sports. Coaches—often volunteers and including many parents—emphasize teamwork, cooperation, and developing good values.
The YMCA has been America's leading swim instructor for more than 100 years. But our aquatics programs extend beyond instruction. We also provide recreational, competitive and specialty aquatics programs for all ages and abilities, including parent-child classes, water exercise and therapy, water safety and rescue, and water sports. Programs and classes vary by location.

SWIM LESSONS Our swim lessons teach your child confidence and skills in the pool. One or two days a week are available both during the week and on Saturdays. Our swim lessons run in seven week sessions. Spring I: February 27-April 21 Spring II: April 23-June 9 5-17 years old The Manta Ray Swim Team practices year round, five days a week for 75 minutes, and are divided into 3 teams by ability and age. The first 15 minutes of practice is focused on strengthening core followed by one hour of swimming. Fridays include a 30 minute indoor cycle class or run. Manta Rays will swim for a full hour, perfecting their strokes, increasing endurance, and learning to be a Y team member; exemplifying the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The team participates in 1-2 swim meets a month. Swim meets are not mandatory. CO-ED YOUTH BASKETBALL Pre K- 6th Grade Our 8 week season begins March 24, 2012. Our instructional league teachessportsmanship and skills to youth in grades Pre-K - 6th. The league includes one weekday practice and one Saturday game held at Scyamore Canyon Elementary School gym. ACTIVE YOUTH CLASSES We offer a variety of active youth classes including ballet, jazz, tap, karate, tumbling, and more! Most are included with your Full Facility Membership. See all the classes below: WATER POLO TEAM- Starting again this summer 5-13 years old Come splash in the water, grab a polo ball and have fun! Develop basic water polo skills and learn the rules of the game while keeping your feet on the ground. Water Polo is all about having fun while developing skills and infusing our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. CHEERLEADING Pre K- 6th Grade Our 8 week cheer program teaches self confidence, improves coordination and flexability through choreograped routines and simple stunts. Cheerleaders have the opportunity to perform at Flag Football and Basketball Games and special events. |
